Installation of a Spreader Roll
For installation, the same general principles for plain path rolls apply. It is very important that the roll is placed at right angles and horizontally to the web, in order to achieve perfect results and to avoid web creasing and a premature wear of the roll surface.

Vibration/Critical speeds
Each spreader roll is subject to a physical critical speed range (in which the rolls should not be run due to vibrations. Stowe Woodward can advise if requested).

Wrapping angle "W"
The correct wrapping angle is also very important in order to achieve optimum spreading results.

Recommended wrapping angles (Paper industry): forming fabrics: 10-15° felt: 15-25° paper/board: 20-30° size press: 30-40° coating machine: 20-30° winder: 30°
