Cleaning
If the surface of the
spreader roll has to be
cleaned, no aggressive
solution or sharp tools
should be used which
could damage the
rubber sleeve.
In case of any doubt,
please contact Stowe Woodward.
Rubber sleeves
Rubber sleeves can
be polished with fine
coated abrasives
when the roll is
turning, but not when
the roll is stopped.
If water is used to
clean the surface of
the roll, please ensure
that water jets do not
impinge directly on the
end seals.
This is to prevent the
grease in the labyrinth
seals from being
washed out.
PTFE sleeves
Sharp tools should
not be used if the
roll is covered with
a PTFE sleeve.
They can be cleaned
with water, kerosene
or petroleum.
It should be observed
that no abrasive media
or mechanical parts
should touch the roll.
High temperatures
or welding work in the
immediate vicinity
must be avoided.
