The Product
The Stowe Woodward spreader roll (SRM) is symmetrically curved along its longitudinal axis. This roll is of constant diameter along its entire face length and is free turning over a fixed axle.
The turning force is provided by the continuous type of web that passes over the roll or by a drive sheave mounted on the end of the roll face.
The roll consists of four basic elements:
- A non-rotating axle curved to provide the degree of bow required for a specific application.
- A series of specially designed precision ball bearing assemblies mounted on the axle in order that their outer races are free to turn, while the inner races are held stationary on the axle without tension.
- A special flexible rubber sleeve or steel segmented sections rotate with the outer races of the ball bearing assemblies.
- Specially designed end sealing systems prevent water, moisture and dust from entering the roll.
