New journals, heads, housings, dummy heads and end plate fabrication are only some of the standard operations offered by Stowe Woodward's one-stop facilities. Complete new steel core rolls are custom produced to the exact specifications of the application.

Plain Non-Working Rolls
Increased machine speeds, advanced felt and wire designs, and increased tensions mean increased shell fatigue for non-working pipe rolls. Such issues with roll shells are frequently discovered when a roll is recovered.

Stowe Woodward provides quick delivery for new roll cores, minimizing the time the roll is out of the mill. All rolls are produced to exact engineering specifications. Internal and external TIR is minimized or eliminated and rolls are stress relieved and balanced prior to covering, providing a complete roll that meets or exceeds OEM specifications.

Press & Suction Rolls
Stowe Woodward combines the latest in high performance roll design and fabrication with leading edge roll cover technology to replace worn out granite and steel core press rolls that have reached the end of their life.

Complete new press roll cores and suction roll shells of all designs and material specifications are engineered and manufactured to exact customer specifications. Rolls include heads, journals, bearings and housings, water-cooling systems (if necessary) and all accessories.

Calender Rolls - Chilled Iron, Soft-Nip, Supercalendar
Stowe Woodward is the recognized industry leader in calender roll cover technology. Combined with the ability to supply complete new roll cores for all types of calender applications, a true one-stop shop for your new calender is created. New chilled iron calender rolls for all positions, thermal and tri-pass rolls, and cores for covered soft-nip calender and supercalender roll positions are fabricated to exact specifications, covered with the latest long-lasting roll cover materials and returned on a quick turnaround schedule.

Reel Spools
One of the most demanding applications on a paper machine, reel spools and reel spool covers are critical to optimal machine performance and efficiency. Stowe Woodward designs, engineers and manufactures reel spools to exacting specifications, using the best materials and manufacturing procedures.

All reel spools are ground and balanced to precision tolerances for the best possible performance in the paper machine and winder. Combined with a high performance POLYREEL polyurethane cover, the most durable, best performing reel spool is returned to the mill for long service life.
