Handling StoPac rubber blankets

Handling instructions for StoPac rubber blankets used in the manufacture of CLUPAK Extensible Paper.
Handling of rubber blankets
When transporting, handling or unpacking StoPac rubber blankets, it is essential to protect them from any damage which may in the long term result in unnecessary and costly stoppages. By following these hints and instructions carefully, you can minimize the risk of damage.

Transport of rubber blankets
StoPac rubber blankets are delivered folded in a wooden crate (see fig.1) lined on the inside with hardboard and plastic film to prevent damage.

The rubber blanket is folded around three plastic tubes (see fig. 2). By using tubes of large diameter we can avoid cracks and folds on the blanket.

Unpacking rubber blankets
To unpack the rubber blanket, the following steps must be followed carefully:

  1. Remove the lid and the short sides. (See fig. 3.)
  2. Push a rigid steel pipe or beam through the middle tube. (See fig. 4.)
  3. Lift the rubber blanket out of the crate. (See fig. 5.) NEVER lift the plastic tube directly. There is a serious risk that the rubber blanket will be damaged by sharp edges arising if the plastic tube should crack or break.

The blanket must be removed from the wooden box as soon as possible after arrival at the final destination and kept hanging, according to fig. 6 until put into operation. Furthermore, the blanket must be rotated every week.

Failure to do so, may expose the surface to tensions and cracks requiring considerable grinding before use.
