Forming Fabrics

Product/Application Matrix

Compressor/HOT can be applied on all SSB Types

Monoply SL/SLC (Single layer)
Single layer designs consist of one warp and one weft system. A warp system means a unified thread bundle in the MD A weft system consists of weft threads which form the CD layer. When SL fabrics are supplied on Tissue machines, they are used as warp runner. That means the four or five shed CD float forms the paper side.

Duoply DL (Double Layer)
Double layer designs, including DLC (X-weave) designs, always consist of one warp system and two weft systems. One weft system is used for the paper side, the other one for the running (machine) side. The running side thread is needed for stability and fabric life, while the paper side yarn (usually a smaller yarn) increases the fibre support.

Duoply DLC (X-Weave)
In order to make the paper side finer for improved sheet formation, designs were developed with an additional weft on the paper side. This leads to a weft ratio of 2:1. The additional yarn for the paper side is in most of the cases smaller than the normal paper side weft. This also leads to a higher drainage capacity.

Huytexx/Optiply
This fabric concept consists of two completely separated fabric layers, tightly bound together with an innovative patented stitch system. For the paper side, a plain weave structure is used and for the machine, or running side, a five shed structure. Because of the special stitch structure, this concept is named SSB (Self Supported Binder). The stitch yarn or the stitch pair is not only responsible for binding the two fabric layers together, but also for increasing the fibre support on the paper side to improve retention and paper surface characteristics.

OptiSpeed/Synergie
On fast running Gapformer positions, caliper and void volume are critical parameters. In order to optimize the drainage and the sheet forming properties, a finer SSB warp was developed.

The binding concept itself stays the same. FSI up to 210 is possible. Caliper is between 0,64 - 0,75mm

On Brown grade paper machines, the Xerium SSB Line also adds value, with the finest surfaces for Fluting and Liner positions. A coarser warp for meeting the demands on stability and sufficient drainage was developed, while keeping the binding concept the same.

Selectra/Vortexx
This innovative fabric design consists of two completely separated fabric layers tightly bound together with SSB (Self Supported Binding) technology. The unique warp structure allows greater CMD yarn content to increase FSI and retention. On the paper side, a plain weave is used, with an 8 shed structure on the running side. The plain weave provides the best uniformity to the paper with optimised fibre support while the 8 shed bottom meets the increased stability requirements of fast running, wide paper machines.
